In towns and cities all over Long Island, daylilies brighten shopping center parking lots with lively blooms.

Mass plantings of daylilies add sorely needed charm and color to medians in our parking lots all over town. Think of how dreary these places would be without color and bloom.

While I have seen ornamental grasses and some shrub roses used, daylilies are the most common flowers planted all around the many local shopping centers here. They never receive any special care. No water in the hot summer except for rain. The ground is hard packed. People often walk there. Yet the plants thrive and bloom in profusion.

Stella de Oro blooms.

Bonanza

Stella and Bonanza are the most commonly seen daylilies in the mass parking-lot plantings. The developers need something readily available and reliable. These daylilies fit the bill perfectly.
