100 Years of Celebrating the Iris

Named after the goddess of the rainbow for good reason, the Iris has long been revered for its incredible diversity of color and color combinations. The genus Iris in its many incredible species forms has been hybridized to produce almost 100,000 named cultivars.

Join us to celebrate the centennial of the internationally recognized registration organization and receive our beautiful full color quarterly bulletin AND a special members-only 4-part publication.

You'll see the newest advances in the genus and many tips on growing iris in your garden. There are irises that can thrive and bloom in semi-arid climates and irises that will grow and bloom in containers submerged in water. Most are somewhere in between these two extremes, but once they find the right spot, they will thrive with a minimum of care. The AIS through its online presence, publications and local affiliates and experts will supply the information you need.

Our award system will help guide you in your choice of what has been judged exceptional by generations of expert judges. The society also supports hundreds of AIS judged shows of the iris bloom across the country.
