Going outside and spraying your plants with a hose may not produce the best results. There are a few guidelines that will help your plants grow optimally.

Do not allow your soil to completely dry out or the plant will wilt, and even though it may come back it will remain damaged. Keeping the soil waterlogged, on the other hand, will rot the roots and starve the plant of water and nutrients, causing the plant to wilt and die. Coarse organic amendments and mulches in the soil can help retain moisture while providing drainage.
