I believe I acquired this sometime in the 1980s, likely when it outgrew a neighbour's yard. At any rate I see it up and down the street. It is VERY rhizomatous. This one needs to be grown in a place where other things don't like to grow or it can take over. Lovely dark purple buds which never open late in the season. | |

New before 2008. Was divided a few years ago and part of it moved to a new location where it has grown better than the original one. It's now the only division I have. It doesn't always flower for me. Needs warmth but also needs rain. However, in a wet year, it's likely to sustain considerable slug damage before blooming. |
