Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Victoria Red') |
Have Crabapple |
Not a registered cultivar. It's a nice, kind of dusty red. 2020: This might be gone - gophers. |
||
Hosta (Hosta 'Over the Moon') |
Have Crabapple |
NOID. Made up name. I thought it was August Moon, but it isn't. Might be Elegans. See what color the blooms are and try to narrow it down. I think I got it from Gilbert Wild.
Variegated Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris Oriental Limelight) |
Have Crabapple |
Too tall and a thug to boot
Sedge (Carex oshimensis 'Evergold') |
Have Not planted yet Crabapple Water Grasses |
Z5, FS-PS, not a true bog plant, but they'll make it through a summer, 10-12". 2024: I'm trying them in the barrels again unless I find something else to plant in there. 2023: I got 3 nice big ones to put in the barrels again. They didn't like it there, so I put 1 in the CA garden and I think the deer were nibbling on it! The other 2 went in the GH triangle. 2022: I tried 3 of them in the water this year. They did pretty well, but didn't get as big as the acorus that I usually try to find. In early November I moved them to the crabapple garden. I'd like to try to get some more grassy stuff in there for low maintenance and to hopefully choke out the Oriental Limelight there that looks like crap when it gets tall. 2017: I'm not sure if this is still in the Crabapple garden? |
||
Lily Of The Valley (Convallaria majalis) |
Have Crabapple |
This finally decided to show its face!
Sea Holly (Eryngium planum) |
Have Crabapple Front Bank Dead Zone |
Gone from the Corner. Not sure if there's any left in the CA garden either.
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Charming Heart') |
Have Crabapple |
I like this daylily - it's a very deep, rich red. It does well in the fairly shady crabapple garden. It hasn't gotten especially robust, but it blooms every year.
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Frans Hals') |
Have Crabapple Windmill |
|||
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Storm Warning') |
Have Crabapple Dead Zone |
2017: Planted 1 in Crabapple, 1 in Z5. 2019: They both bloomed. Still small plants. 2021: The one by the garage was eaten by the damn gophers. The Crabapple one is really looking good. I hope the gophers stay out of that garden. |
||
Hosta (Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans') |
Have Crabapple Dead Zone |
Front: 2020 This one, which was lovely, succumbed to the dinosaur toes. Thugs. 2019: Planted one at the N end of the CA garden, hoping to get some vigorous hostas to fill in and perhaps drive out the oriental limelight. Great plan. 2020 - the deer found them and have mowed down all the hostas that aren't right next to the house. Sigh. Odd that they never bothered them much in all these years? |
||
Toringo Crabapple (Malus toringo) |
Have Crabapple |
NOID | ||
Golden Millet Grass (Milium effusum 'Aureum') |
Have Crabapple Grasses |
2021: Planted a purchased plant on the east side of this garden where it will only get filtered morning sun. It's a bright, pretty thing. I hope the gophers don't like it. I also attempted to grow this from seed, but had no luck. Package said 'germination can be erratic'
Large-Cupped Daffodil (Narcissus 'Ice Follies') |
Have Corner Crabapple Front Front Bank Knick Knack Veggie Garden Perennials Z5 |
Corner: scattered about KK: under the hydrangea Crabapple: Front: by the burl Front Bank: Scattered about Veg: mixed in with the daylilies Zone 5: in several places |
||
Trumpet Narcissus (Narcissus 'King Alfred') |
Have Crabapple Z5 |
I'm pretty sure this is King Alfred in both locations. I bought them a long time ago.
Dappled Willow (Salix integra 'Hakuro-nishiki') |
Have Crabapple |
2017 - This guy is looking sad this year.
Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) |
Have Crabapple Here & There Native |
Native down by the river. I have started some from seed here and there.
Spiderwort (Tradescantia 'Innocence') |
Have Crabapple |

Tradescantia (Andersoniana Group) (Tradescantia 'Little Doll') |
