lauribob's Plant List: Grasses

A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

2021: I picked up 1 at Fred Meyers for the barrels, but they were too expensive to buy 3. Wish I would have done it anyway now. I'll try to find some smaller ones locally, but probably won't find any. I put the one I bought in the barrel on the south end.
2020: I had these in the barrels again and they did well. I tried to overwinter them in the pump-house, but it was a fail.
2019: I picked up 3 of these (4" pots) and they did well in the water barrels. In the fall, I threw them in the Z5 garden and spring of 2020, I see 2 of them that appear to be alive.

Conflicting information about the hardiness - some say Z6, MOBO & Perennials.com both say Z5.
2017: These did quite well in the water barrels this summer. I plunked them down in the Z5 garden, mulched with leaves, and said "I hope to see you in the spring."

2 in the KK garden, 1 in the WM.
2022: The one on the grinder side in the KK is slowly coming back, so the gophers must not have gotten all the roots. The one on the other side is still a no-show. The one in the WM garden is there, if somewhat diminished. It was never very robust.
2019: The gophers have decimated both grasses in the KK garden. When I went to cut them back in the early spring, the whole thing came off in my hands - no roots. So sad.

Grasses
Z5, FS-PS, not a true bog plant, but they'll make it through a summer, 10-12".

2024: I'm trying them in the barrels again unless I find something else to plant in there.
2023: I got 3 nice big ones to put in the barrels again. They didn't like it there, so I put 1 in the CA garden and I think the deer were nibbling on it! The other 2 went in the GH triangle.
2022: I tried 3 of them in the water this year. They did pretty well, but didn't get as big as the acorus that I usually try to find. In early November I moved them to the crabapple garden. I'd like to try to get some more grassy stuff in there for low maintenance and to hopefully choke out the Oriental Limelight there that looks like crap when it gets tall.
2017: I'm not sure if this is still in the Crabapple garden?

2014: Planted in the Z5 garden. It wasn't really thriving.
2016: Moved from Z5 to Corner willow end. Needed more shade.
2017: Added a second one in the same area.

When it's big enough, split some out for Deb

I don't have much luck with this grass. I've planted at least 3 of them and they haven't been long-lived for me. I had 2 by the GH, but I had to dig the whole section up due to neglect. I didn't see them anywhere.

2021: Started from seed and got a healthy little crop of these guys. I'll have to keep a close eye on whether they want to spread vigorously - the seed heads are toxic to livestock, which I didn't know until the end of summer. I can't tell which is this grass or which is just the wild grass...
I finally got them in the ground on July 5th. It was too hot, but they were chilling in the herb garden in their little pots. So far they just look like...grass. I put 8 of them in the wild part of the corner, mixed in with the other tall grass. Hope they can get enough water to thrive. We've had record breaking heat in June this year.

2021: Planted a purchased plant on the east side of this garden where it will only get filtered morning sun. It's a bright, pretty thing. I hope the gophers don't like it. I also attempted to grow this from seed, but had no luck. Package said 'germination can be erratic'

9-12' tall.
2017: I planted a potted start from Wild on the front bank. It hasn't spread much at all, but it's still alive. I should probably fertilize it or something. I was hoping for a big clump of grass there, but it's just a spindly stalk so far.
