This plant is considered invasive in Hawaii. The purple berries are eaten by birds and end up lodged on Hapuu Ferns, or anywhere they fall and germinate. I'm constantly pulling them off and throwing them away. But I do like my parent plant
Not sure how much longer I will have this as existing plant is overshadowed by larger bamboo. Very difficult to move. Other growers have confirmed what I have done. Try to move a rhizome and it dies.
Easy growing clumping bamboo. Seeds frequently but does not die. Need to trim out seeded canes. New growth starts around May or June in Hawaii. Have divided clump successfully
