These seeds were from Texas & planted at same time as purple variety 2003. It has grown faster & larger to an 18' tree form with 4" branches. | May 10, 2019: Bloomed (1st blooms of 2019 on my 18' tree form 20 year old plant.) June 15, 2019: Miscellaneous Event (It's June & I'm finding 4" to 7" baby plants coming up everywhere in my flower beds under the large tree. They survive in water about 2 weeks until I put them in small pots.) March 15, 2021: Plant emerged (Big tree showing a little green) May 21, 2021: Bloomed (Just starting ) March 15, 2022: Plant emerged (About same time as last year leaves emerged. I have 1 small 12"plant I will grow in a pot.) |

From 206 Red Cedar house. Saw bloom in Nov. & its wonderful. Offering fresh dried seeds Dec. 2022. 20 seeds for $7 includes postage. | December 29, 2022: Obtained plant (Dug today 3'X3' then trimmed a few low branches. 4 days off freezing nipped top. I got about 200 seeds Ill also plant soon.) March 21, 2023: Miscellaneous Event (Plant is lush with so much new growth. On my patio by post for now. Today I cut about a dozen low sprouted new branches & put in water to see if they root . So far a few little plants have sprouted in big pot from seeds that fell. The long pot i put so many seeds in dont have recognizeable sprouts yet) April 12, 2023: Bloomed (Full of flower buds on each tip. Will be beautiful in about 2 weeks. NOTE I found about a dozen 2" sprouts in long pot so potted individual for selling later. This could be a big seller in summer & at Fall plant sale when they are bigger.) April 28, 2023: Bloomed (FOUND 1ST FLOWERS BARELY STARTING TO OPEN THAT BEAUTIFUL DARK BLUE!!! SO MANY MORE SPIRES TO OPEN.) |

Seeds I planted about 20 years ago were from Texas so I'm presuming they are 'Shoal Creek'. The lovely bluish purple spires are 8" to 12" & it's lived thru many Winters here in zone 9. | May 18, 2019: Bloomed (1st blooms of 2019. Finished blooming by July 1st.) March 15, 2020: Plant emerged (Sprouted for 2020) August 10, 2020: Transplanted (Found a 6" plant in the west sidewalk bed so it has to be the purple. I've never found 1 before from all the seeds that drop. Put in water & will plant tomorrow in a pot on patio.) February 24, 2021: Maintenance performed (Trimmed about 3' all over while dormant but sprouting soon.) March 15, 2021: Plant emerged (1st tip sprouts of 2021) May 15, 2021: Bloomed (Just starting to show purple) April 15, 2022: Miscellaneous Event (Large one has leafed out & small one I'm keeping is 12" with 3 low branches growing in a pot on patio.) Got several corms from Alicia in Ca 11-25-17 | February 8, 2019: Bloomed (1st flower with a nice cluster of leaves from rootstock I got in a trade .) January 1, 2020: Miscellaneous Event (Has 6" leaves so covered when temps dropped to 38*) March 15, 2020: Bloomed (1st bloom of 2020) February 26, 2021: Miscellaneous Event (Freeze got all tops, hoping bulbs are ok) March 12, 2021: Plant emerged (Lots of new growth) March 20, 2021: Transplanted (From long pot to make a 3',row under bathroom window.) May 20, 2021: Bloomed (1st flower of '21) February 14, 2022: Plant emerged (I covered when frosty but sprouting new leaves & looking good) March 1, 2024: Bloomed (Old fashioned tall just started blooming on all new growth. I noticed they like winter west morning sun til it goes over house & temps heat up then struggles. Same for Green Goddess but no flowers yet.) |

Got several small corms of this in a trade with Alicia in CA 11-25-17 . | January 3, 2019: Bloomed (Even in cool night temps I finally have a bloom on this beauty.) June 3, 2019: Maintenance performed (Got too much sun & started dieing back so I moved to more shade & spread bulbs in a line again.) January 1, 2020: Maintenance performed (New growth sprouting so I covered when temps got 38*) February 26, 2021: Miscellaneous Event (Freeze got tops, hoping bulbs return) March 15, 2021: Plant emerged (Lots of new growth) March 20, 2021: Transplanted (From long pot to 3' row under bathroom window.) February 14, 2022: Plant emerged (Hoping for nice blooms on this 2 1/2 ' long row ) April 25, 2024: Miscellaneous Event (They sprouted out nice leaves but no flowers at time Old Fashion one bloomed. Hard to believe in Dec they are not visible like hidden lily.) |
