This may be the same plant as Peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Noemie Demay') per Carsten Burkhardt's Web Project Paeonia.

A fun plant, especially early in the season. Dormant bulbs are easy to store dry or potted and they're very prolific. New leaves show the darkest spots, which fade over time, but bloom stalks appear fairly soon after the plants break dormancy, so it puts on a nice show.

Per the International Plant Names Index regarding the spelling Euphorbia venenifica "Brown (in Fl. Trop. Africa 6(1): 562. 1911) cited the name as "Euphorbia venenifica Tremaux ex Kotschy" (an error)."

N. E. Brown first described and named this plant from a specimen at Kew Gardens in The Gardeners Chronicle (1885). Alocasia ‘Quilted Dreams’ was first described in Aroideana 7 (1984) and Alocasia bullata is Hort., nom. inval.

Per The genus Alocasia (Araceae-Colocasieae) in the Philippines, by Alistair Hay page 33 “…Alocasia sinuata is botanically poorly known,…Two forms exist in cultivation… Quilted Dreams and Alocasia Bullata…”

It's very trouble free, receiving no special attention other than a spring feeding and occasional watering in mid-Summer. The blooms reach up to 3' on topping the foliage mound by over 12".

Discovered by the Dutch perennial specialist Luc Klinkhamer during a trip to South-Korea in 1987 at an orchard.


Likely sold as and synonymous with Peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Eden's Perfume') per Carsten Burkhardt's Web Project Paeonia.
