[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Sunset Rogue-G.Wild') | Posted on July 5, 2022 ]

The catalogue description for this plant read "19" E D 6" bloom; Early. Diamond dusted, creped, and ruffled. Strong rose with slight raised pink rib." It has been discontinued, but was still offered in their catalogue until maybe 2018 or so. Definitely a front of the border plant, and possibly a candidate for growing in a pot. Decent bud count and compact grower.

[ Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Madame Butterfly') | Posted on February 23, 2022 ]

Have had this one since the 1990's. It originally came mail order from either Park's or its then sister company, Wayside. This is the easiest one to force that I have and always blooms first. The flowers are large; around 8 inches across. But in all the time I've had it, there have never been more than 2 blooms per flower stalk. The bulb multiplies vigorously by offsets.

Manatawny Creek Farm lists the bloom size for this as 5".

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Port') | Posted on February 4, 2022 ]

Manatawny Creek Farm offers this plant and indicates the bloom size is 6 inches.

[ Multiflora Spreading/Trailing Petunia (Petunia Tidal Wave® Silver) | Posted on November 5, 2021 ]

This plant is vigorous to the point of being weedy. It will smother other plants in a mixed container. The germination rate for me was very impressive at 100%. It is quite cold tolerant, having survived a week so far of sustained night temperatures in the mid twenties. I also grew the yellow version of this series, and can report that it did not perform nearly as well. It does seem to be as cold tolerant, but the germination rate was extremely poor. The plants stayed much smaller as well.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Emerald Joy') | Posted on November 1, 2021 ]

This started reblooming for me in zone 5 after I moved, but it never did in all the years at the old place. Technically, it's the same climate zone, but the new location is one degree south and one degree west latitude and longitude. Soil has more clay in it now and is slightly more alkaline, too, though, so don't know for certain why the performance is better lately.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mynelle's Starfish') | Posted on July 7, 2021 ]

Mynelle's Starfish blooms very well for me planted in a clay soil bed next to a permeable patio. It came from a fellow Iowan, and obviously enjoys the weather here in the "difficult midwest."

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Baby Doll') | Posted on June 26, 2021 ]

I "fostered" a daylily labeled Baby Doll. Would like to find someone else who has it, so we can compare photos. The scape height and ploidy match the database, as does the color description. The bloom size is not listed, and I've found that to be rather variable on this plant. It can get as big as 5.5 inches, or be as small as 3.5 inches. The more flowers it puts up, the smaller they are. It rebloomed last year for me, although it never did before. It is kind of a "fussy" plant, and prefers soil with a lot of organic matter. It doesn't like heavy soil one bit. I hesitate to post my photos without more confidence that the label is correct. The blooms do not get spotty in the rain at all. The rose coloration can vary a little in intensity depending on the light. While listed as midseason in the database, I'd have to say mine is early midseason. TIA!
