Deep red with very dense petals. Nice looking blooms. Fragrance is mild.

I grow this in a pot. I love it for its wonderful fragrance and its ability to change its appearance as the bloom ages and throughout the year. I'm in central Texas.

This rose is just okay in my opinion. If I had a larger yard I would probably enjoy it a lot more, but with limited space I have to love every plant I have. I don't know what it is about it that I don't love. Perhaps the form and shape of the flower? Then again it's new. Time will tell if it stays or not.

I am about to enter my 3rd year with this rose. My only critique is that it is horribly vulnerable to powdery mildew. (Note: the strange weather the last couple of years may have a lot to do with it). If caught at the very beginning, it is easily manageable. This is a favorite for pollinators, particularly small bees and hoverflies.
  • By MNdigger (Anoka County, Minnesota - Zone 4a) on Dec 10, 2022 8:46 PM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'Burst of Joy')
Burst of Joy has many continuous consistent orange blooms that last for several days. Fairly heat tolerant. Not fussy. Haven't tried as a cut flower. Didn't need to cut back foliage to keep it flowering. Just dead headed mainly. The form of the flower is fairly sturdy but if it rains hard enough their size is large enough to hold water so I just shake them off and they are upright again. Exhibited some black spot in the final month of the season. Japanese beetles were mildly attracted to the leaves mainly and somewhat to the blooms. Buggers!

The vibrant peach color stands out. It is so beautiful - like a sunset in the form of a rose. Many continuous blooms that lasted 2-3 days for me. Not a cut flower for sure. Somewhat fragrant. Japanese beetles once in a while. No disease until into fall when it dropped all of its leaves, and then grew back with plenty of leaves with more blooms. It seemed to tolerate the heat fairly well also. Tough. Great color! Due to the drought the nursery was clearing 'tender roses' so I picked up a dozen or so various roses for $10 each. Had to get 2 of Livin Easy.

I love this flower. The yellow color is bright and the plant is constantly in bloom. Heat sensitive 90+. Full sun. Water daily. We were experiencing pretty severe drought in 2022 with heat. I am in zone 4a. Attempting to overwinter with 8" of dirt and 12" of mulched leaves to cover. I see it is listed in various sites as zone 5/6. I generally have success with zone 5 roses so we will see what happens.
  • By MNdigger (Anoka County, Minnesota - Zone 4a) on Dec 3, 2022 8:17 PM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'Oscar Peterson')
Oscar Peterson blooms freely June until freeze. Bumble bees like this one - and Japanese beetles love the blooms. There are enough blooms for everyone to enjoy though. Disease is not a problem. Very reliable and steady, no fuss rose. Heat doesn't seem to stop it. Cute, white damsel blooms flower best on new year's growth. Don't be afraid to prune it back. Minnesota zone 4b no protection needed.
  • By MNdigger (Anoka County, Minnesota - Zone 4a) on Dec 3, 2022 8:07 PM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'My Girl')
One of my most carefree and hardy roses. Clusters of red roses that are nearly in constant repeat. Long lasting. Not fragrant. Japanese beetles rarely bother. Heat tolerant. Fairly vigorous. Not fussy. No disease or infestations in 2 years. 4 hours of sun. Minnesota zone 4b.
  • By MNdigger (Anoka County, Minnesota - Zone 4a) on Dec 3, 2022 7:57 PM concerning plant: English Shrub Rose (Rosa 'Munstead Wood')
One of my top 5. Gorgeous maroon/purple velvet flowers. Wonderful, strong, fruity fragrance. Japanese beetles really go for this plant (mainly blooms but some leaves). I pick them off several times a day. Surprisingly vigorous for zone 4b. David Austin has it at zone 5. Planted in about 5 hours of sun. Nearly constant repeat. Not a good cut flower for me. Wilts by the end of the day. Dried roses very fragrant though. Does well here in Minnesota. I cover it with 2 shovels of dirt and a foot of mulched leaves for the winter.
  • By MNdigger (Anoka County, Minnesota - Zone 4a) on Dec 3, 2022 7:50 PM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'Princess Alexandra of Kent')
One of my top 5. Many pretty pink blooms of great form in June through freeze. I'm in Minnesota so not much blooms before the end of May. Second year from D.A. bareroot is vigorous in 5 hours sun. Takes about 2 weeks to form new blooms if cut, or eaten by deer. Lasts 2-3 days when cut. Moderate fragrance. Wilts in the 90+ heat. No disease or infestations in last 2 years. Japanese beetles mildly attracted to this one. I noticed the information lists hardiness as zone 5b. David Austin has it as zone 4. Thrives well in zone 4a.

Huge, beautiful, absolute red blooms that are long lasting (1week or more). Did not see any disease or bugs. Japanese beetles were not very interested. Great cut flower. Fragrant. Moderately thirsty. Takes the heat better than most. One of my top 5. Zone 6 but I am trying to winter over in zone 4b after burying deeply and mulching with a foot of chopped leaves.

I have grown this plant for years. Flawless pink blossoms. It has won first prize in pink category in the local fair 3 times.
  • By MichelleB675 on Sep 13, 2022 11:47 AM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'La Villa Cotta')
Crazy Love can easily grow 8-9 ft tall on its own roots. Crazy octopus canes. Blooms can get 4-5 inches wide. Lovely full blooms.
  • By GregCullen on Aug 7, 2022 12:35 PM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'Duftzauber')
I was looking at the listed dates of introduction of the varieties of rose Duftzauber, Prima Ballerina, and Kaiserin Farah and they do not match with the notion that Duftzauber is the result of a cross between Prima Ballerina and Kaiserin Farah.
  • By kniphofia (Northumberland, UK) on Jul 17, 2022 4:47 AM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'Madame Hardy')
One of the most beautiful of the old Damask roses. Registered as Felicite Hardy in France by Julien-Alexandre Hardy in 1831 and known as Madame Hardy. Named for his wife Marie Therese Pezard. A white or white blend rose with a strong classic fragrance, it bears clusters of medium sized blooms from prickly stems. A green button eye is present. It is once blooming, in mid summer and can be pruned after flowering. Shade tolerate and disease resistant.

A rose of beautiful subtle colour and lovely cupped form. It has a fruity lemon scent. Introduced by David Austin in 2005 and named after the shepherdess in Sir Philip Sidney's The Arcadia, published in 1593.
  • By LivinEZ (Bucks County PA - Zone 7a) on May 27, 2022 4:38 AM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'Snowfire')
Some of my favorite roses are red and white bicolors. Besides Snowfire, other examples growing in my garden are: Love, Ronald Reagan (RR), Carefree Spirit (Carefree Spirit is a single flowered variety, and therefore somewhat difficult to use for direct comparisons with Snowfire). Comparisons below are from my garden observations:

In my garden, Snowfire demonstrates superior color contrast to the others. The red petals with white reverse are vividly defined. The red is a bright warm red, almost scarlet, with no hint of bluing as the flower ages. I see crimson, not scarlet, in Love and RR.

The unfurling bud is attractive, but not shaped as nicely as Love or RR. It puts on a great show in late May early June rose season, not much after.

The bush grows upright, which is a good thing, because it has nasty thorns. I've let mine grow to about six feet. A good back of the border rose.

In my SE PA garden, disease resistance has been about average. It needs its fair share of spraying in hot, humid weather.

To me, a very slight tea fragrance, but perhaps I'm letting my imagination take over.

For its color and June display, I wouldn't be without it.
  • By LivinEZ (Bucks County PA - Zone 7a) on May 25, 2022 4:05 PM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'Cherry Parfait')
Has done very well in my garden. Good vigor and shrub like form. More disease resistant than many of my other roses, but still needs a good spraying now and then. Not as resistant as a Drift or Knockout rose.
This rose is sold in some nurseries here in east PA/NJ as 'Fire and Ice'.
What compounds the potential for a problem is that an internet search for 'Fire and Ice' shows a number of photos of a red white bicolor rose that is much more like 'Snowfire', or 'Love'.
Without conducting a thorough investigation first, some buyers (like me) think they're getting a unique rose.
So, now I have Cherry Parfait in my front yard AND my back yard. It's worth it.
  • By Trish (Grapevine, TX - Zone 8a) on May 24, 2022 12:24 PM concerning plant: Rose (Rosa 'Gemini')
Based on reports from nearly 800 members in 2004, 'Gemini' hybrid tea rose received the highest rating (8.2 out of 10) of those new roses and was awarded the Member's Choice Award for 2005.

'Gemini' features densely packed, 4- to 5-inch-diameter flowers in coral pink with cream tones. The flowers have a slight papaya scent. The vigorous plant grows 5 to 6 feet tall and can be purchased as a grafted rose or one grown on its own rootstock. 'Gemini' won the 2000 All-America Rose Selections award and now adds this Member's Choice Award to its trophy chest.
