This sturdy climber will grow in part-shade without giving up any of its potential for almost continuous bloom. Several flushes of big and bright red blooms are followed by huge hips in winter. The canes are quite thick and climb quickly to about 8 feet. The rose can reach 12-15 feet in height, but that takes several years.

    Noted by Antique Rose Emporium:
"There aren’t enough red climbers! Happily ‘Altissimo’ is the answer to everyone’s needs. It is a moderate climber - perfect for the eight foot porch pillar or trellis. Put it in a place of prominence as it will reward you with large, flat, semi-double velvety flowers of blood red throughout the season."
