I have grown Quietness in my zone 4b garden for over 13 years. At one time I grew over 300 roses and this one was my favorite and remains my favorite to this day, long after many roses have left my garden. I consider it a near-perfect rose for cold climates. It's hardy to the tips, vigorous and tall, blooms profusely and repeats, the blooms are perfection, the color is cool and serene and is disease-free. Its only downfall is the lack of a strong fragrance, which some can detect but which eludes me, but you can't have it all.

A lovely, healthy garden rose. Flowers are fully double, pale silvery pink in color and lightly, sweetly scented. The bush has a beautiful symmetric shape and is well-covered with disease resistant dark green foliage. Imagine the health, vigor and hardiness of the old grandiflora 'Queen Elizabeth,' but on a much more attractive shrub with much more beautiful flowers. I love its name. A winner!

    Noted by Antique Rose Emporium:
"This rose is an excellent specimen rose and reminds us of an upright version of the popular ‘Souvenir de la Malmaison’ rose. It produces full, soft pink, fragrant flowers well into the fall. The shrub is very cold hard and will reach a height of five feet. This is one of Griffith Buck’s last introductions."

I had read so much about this Buck rose, and so many positive comments saying how much people just loved it, that I had to try Quietness for myself. I ordered it and planted it in my garden, and I do have to agree. Very disease free and easy to care for rose that simply thrives. Tends to grow tall, around six feet. I like my roses to be shorter, and some pruning took care of any height problems. Unfortunately, Quietness just did not do anything for me. Personal taste, of course, but I just plain did not like it. I can't really say why because Quietness has lovely thick petals with an old rose form. I should have loved it, but sadly, I did not.

I dug mine up and gave it away, but I still have nothing negative to say about it. I would say try it for yourself. I bet most people will simply love this rose.
