A beautiful rose that I have had for many years. I grow it in the back of my south side rose garden.

Rita, located on the north shore of Nassau County Long Island, NY zone 6/7, where it is humid in the summer and roses always need to be sprayed with systemic fungicide to avoid blackspot.

Gold Medal is a tall and sturdy grandiflora with very few thorns. The name is deceptive because it suggests a solid color, whereas the blooms are quite variable, frequently more apricot than gold, and almost always with a pink margin. The pretty buds are dark orange in color. The scent is quite pleasant, comparable to the aroma of hot spiced tea.
