I have this weird plant come up in my garden. It has these white bulbs that look like the texture of mushrooms and then this pink fleshy growth on top which oozes a brown liquid. Very weird and creepy looking. Does anyone know what it is and whether it is poisonous?
Thanks in advance.

It is a mushroom, a stinkhorn.

Thank you so much for the quick response. This all makes sense. I have had a lot of flies in the yard and I had a number of trees removed a year ago and there would be roots still in the soil that are still rotting. Have not noticed the smell but I am sure I will now. What an awful plant. I guess I will just have to keep digging them up.
Thank You!

I think they're fabulous. They're not plants but fungi. Digging them up is pointless, the underground mycelium will still be present. They are helping to benefit your soil so no need to consider them sinister. The smell doesn't last long and is to attract flies which help spread the spores.

If I were you I wouldn't dig them up, they are actually beneficial for the soil quality and thus also for your plants. Smiling
