I have had Valley Monster around 10 years, it is a nice size plant now, so not a great grower. The flowers are large, but mine has never been 33" tall, more like maybe 28". Not a ton of blooms. I have never done a count, but the flowers are so large they attract attention.

Valley Monster joined my garden in 2014 and this daylilies has won a place in my heart because it is fragrant like its pollen parent, Hudson Valley. I have both of them now and while I believe Hudson Valley is more fragrant, as a clump Valley Monster is very pretty. I have not seen rust on it.

07-20-2019 - The scapes are sturdy enough to hold up the 9" blooms. The lattice behind it is about 36" tall, so Valley Monster is right at its registered height of 33".

10-28-2020 - I was afraid that Valley Monster had died in 2020 because it went dormant in September while everything else was still green, but by October it was trying to make a comeback. It came back to life in 2021 but didn't put on as good a show as in the past. It has increased very well over the years and actually needs to be divided. This daylily clump has a ton of those fibrous hairs that seem to be a trait of some daylilies.

07-19-2021 - Branching is between 2-3 way with about 10-12 buds. It blooms for about 5 weeks from the first week of July until the about the second week of August in my zone 6b garden.

07-19-2019 - I love the green throat on it. 2019 was a peak year with lots of blooms over a 4-5 week period.

I do not grow Valley Monster but I do have two blooming now.

NIKKIE'S EYES Nall 2020
Tall scapes present this beautiful eyed flower well above the foliage. Heavily used the last 2 seasons as Nikki's Eyes is an easy pod setter. Ev, 28", 5.5 3 way branching with 15 buds. Seedling x Josie

Scapes are to small at 28" to hold the flowers up. Very pod and pollen fertile

Ruby Flashpoint (Salter-E.H., 2018)height 24 in.(60 cm), bloom 3.5 in.(8 cm), season M, Rebloom, Semi-Evergreen, Diploid, Rose with a bright circular red eye and chalky white markings that punctuate the midribs in the eye, bright green throat.. (unknown × unknown)
This was given as a gift plant, not anything I would every buy, a really dull red. Really like most of Salters flowers but not this one.

Vickie inspired me to acquire Valley Monster and I am very happy with it. It begins blooming mid June here and usually goes to the end of July. It is quite a large flower, and the plant itself grows strongly. It's only been here a couple of years, so looking forward to next year to see how much it increases and if it can continue to put on a beautiful show. Here are a few pictures--you can see the dates of when they were taken.

This is the only clump shot I have, but unfortunately the full sun messes with the color.

Avedon, so glad you got it and are happy with it! I agree, that last picture of yours really shows off the beauty of VM! The sun really wreaks havoc with getting a good picture of yellow blooms.

KJ, don't you just love that fragrance! That is a nice picture, too!
