Happy New Year 2022! I think this year will be a great year for us, adenium fans!

So maybe we can start a fresh chat for this year. We can still post related topics from the original chat here (The thread "Chats about Adeniums" in Adeniums forum)

To start the year here are my new 2022 first timer adeniums:

With some luck, I'll be able to get some Black adenium seeds.... For free. Just a bit of convincing to do.

There's always more room... Rolling on the floor laughing I meant seeds from a plant with black flowers. Not sure what they have been pollinated with though... Who knows. My friend does have some nice cultivars.

Oh wow! Hope you are able to get them. Most of the "black" have deep purple or deep red undertone.

I have not ventured on any hybridizing yet. So just counting they produce seeds via self or bee pollination.

My rescue adenium, suspected mosaic virus victim, has been in quarantine for a while, about 200 feet away from any of my plants, and receiving dilute fish emulsion about once a week.

I think it might have been a nutritional deficiency as I think the color of the leaves are improving, and the leaves were never really deformed.

Also, it looks to be a white and pink/red blooming variety.

I have some questions on the pricing of Adeniums. I have never bought plants, but only seeds. It seems a plant with a caudex diameter of 2-3 inches is selling for $50. Not a special cultivar or anything, only pink flowers. This is a bit overpriced? I would think... Thinking

I don't buy plants online. My most expensive is a seed grown multipetal I found at HD, 3 inches width caudex, for $39. My single petal seedgrown are $10 to $25. All my grafted are $25 or below.

Maybe you are buying from a non-US seller so the shipping is expensive? I have seen some reasonably priced $25 below at Etsy with free shipping.

Others will add "rare" on their descriptions and will charge a lot of money for grafted ones! If it is grafted they are not rare. It only takes a one each cutting to propagate a supposedly "rare" variety. Therefore the rare grafted probably has a 1,000+ siblings. If they are seed grown "rare" blooming size, I am willing to pay a little bit more…because you have a unique plant (aka mother plant).

I love pink so I collect any shades of desert rose pink I can find Lovey dubby I like multi petals too but for seed propagations single petal can Produce seedpods easier.

Interestingly, it wasn't online. It was at a garden center. I suspect it was because Adeniums are pretty hard to find for sale here in CA. I never buy anything that costs more than $20. If something's that expensive, I usually start it for seeds. Hilarious! nodding
