It has an appealing hose-in-hose form, along with a pleasing cream flushed flesh-pink color. Its drawbacks are also well known: short scapes and modest bud count. I can also recall a few years when performance was off.

Peggy Jeffcoat is definitely a front of the border little beauty. Two clumps roam my garden. Both of my clumps blooms consistently every year. This near white cutie greets me everyday for several weeks each summer. No rust report from my Z:5 northern garden. I get an occasional rebloom in my garden.

This daylily performs well in my Zone 5 garden. I am not a big fan of doubles, but this is one that will remain in my collection. It is a front of the border plant. When multiple blooms are open, it is awesome.

H. 'Peggy Jeffcoat' is a relative newcomer for me, having bought it in fall of 2019. It doesn't seem to spread as quickly as some other varieties, but it does have a good bud count.

I agree that it's a front of border flower. Its the best placement for me to appreciate its consistently large flowers, scent and subtle coloring.

I have had Peggy Jeffcoat in my Zone 4b garden for 20 years now - here she is potted still in 2001, in more sun than ultimate position, but nevertheless great
Thumb of 2022-03-15/Vals_Garden/f0e3d0
She was then planted in a fairly shady position, which sad to say became shadier, but did she mind - heck no Rolling on the floor laughing

She is a little taller here than the registered 18" and as for buds there's no stopping her Thumbs up

We love our Peggy. We have had her for around 5 years. She has never taken a season off. Blooms never hang up or fail to bloom and she smells and that's a plus. Not many of ours do. I know I have a picture of this wonderful double on here somewhere, but where is probably somewhere in last seasons bloom pics. A cultivar that I can spot in a crowd.
Every home needs a daylily, and every daylily needs a home.

I'm going to put in a plug for this one, it is one of my dad's most favorites. A real stand out, lots and lots of beautiful flowers in his garden every summer and he has had it there for more than a decade. He is a very big fan of this one (no pun intended Smiling )

I was not going to reply to this one, but... as the person who started a thread looking for the identity of what has turned out to (likely) be Peggy Jeffcoat ... and which I have ordered for this year for my own gardens, I have to say that despite the many comments on this being a short daylily ... It was the intense fragrance that stopped me in my tracks and drew me to locate the beautiful hose in hose double at the Parker F Scripture Botanical Gardens in Oneida County, NY this past year.

Following an intense pursuit to ID the plant (and Peggy Jeffcoat, according to Cornell, is the only daylily planted in that area of the gardens that could possibly be the daylily I took pictures of), I give massive credit to the daylily forum and many responses in identifying this gorgeous plant. Lovey dubby

As doubles go ... hose in hose is not common. When you search the AHS database for hose in hose, only 43 daylilies come up. Peggy Jeffcoat is the only one in this colour range - a blush peach colour that is gorgeous.
By the time you add in that show-stopping fragrance, what's not to love? Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

She's arriving this spring for my own gardens, but based on the prolific blooms and abundant foliage I saw in the public garden display, I can't imagine too many gardeners would not have place with her name on it!

I have had my Peggy Jeffcoat plant for almost exactly one year. I got mine from a northern grower, so she's taken some time to adjust here and hasn't bloomed yet. She's increased from two to three fans. She also got some rust last summer, which concerns me. I hope she has a better year this year and comes into her own. Peggy Jeffcoat was hybridized not far from here, so I expect she will eventually increase and bloom. How she handles rust is another matter.

Like many in this thread, I fell in love with Peggy Jeffcoat's delicate beauty and lovely hose-in-hose form, though for me it was a picture that sent me scrambling through vendors' websites until I found a plant available. The fragrance will be a bonus.

Will report back on how she handles the rust this year and will include a picture if she blooms. Crossing Fingers!

Peggy Jeffcoat, the daylily, is a beautiful daylily that never fails to please. Peggy Jeffcoat, the person, is even more beautiful (in every way), than the daylily. She is the person who is most resposible for setting my interest in daylilies on fire. I have visited her garden many times and found that she is an elusive target for my camera. She does not like to have her pic taken, and is ever on the move in the garden. This is the only pic I have of her. The picture best describes her: bent over working in the garden. I highly recommend the daylily. It is one of the nicest doubles from a man who is expert at them.

That is a great picture, Greg. It is always nice to hear something about the people for whom our favorite daylilies are named.

P.S. I believe Peggy Jeffcoat was hybridized by Jan Joiner.

Nan I take it to mean that Greg was calling himself the daylily expert not the hybridizer. Becky listed that in the introduction.
@Sscape, Greg was I correct on that interpretation ?

I stand corrected, ladies. Yes, it was Jan who made and named Peggy, the daylily. I thought it was another member of the family. I guess I need to use the database more. https://garden.org/i/s/sigh.gi...

After admiring it here every time I saw it, I finally ordered one from Simonton Bridge to place in my Upper Bed in October 2023. It is starting garden life here with 2 fans.
