Ginger Swallowtail is a nice cultivar which I love because of the unique coloring. I'm certain my BC is not up where the registered numbers are, but the blooms that it does put on are ones to remember. It also held up throughout a 70mph wind storm we had last week. Many of the flowers since on other cultivars have had splits in the petals...but this one did not have that issue due to the extreme winds. The unique color and bold pattern are what has attracted me to this cultivar, and even though a bud count of 30 seems a big stretch in my garden, she is a keeper and performs well in zone 6b.

Sorry, I missed this yesterday. Ginger Swallowtail is a treasure in my zone 3 gardens - absolutely cold-hardy is a big plus in northern gardens and Ginger Swallowtail has held up through several of our winters (only in the gardens the past three years).

I agree with @jkporter about the colouring, as well - I mean, how many 'red spider' daylilies do you need in the garden? But Ginger Swallowtail is not 'quite' red... but not quite 'brown' and not quite 'cinnamon'... That colour stands out. And I do say, she's tall - at least in the 42-inch range given in the stats. She stands out above most of the others nearby and competes well with coneflowers and other perennials.

In my gardens, I'm sure I get the bud count between 26 & 30, she just keeps cranking them out... and if you happen to be a hybridizer, Ginger Swallowtail will set good pods reliably. Add to all that, she happens to be fragrant. I love this one!

Rust and problem free, I would absolutely recommend you give this one a try. Thumbs up
