We haven't done a favorite toothy thread in quite some time. The thumbnail is part of an image I took of Bass Gibson while visiting in Ohio this past summer. I've never paid much attention to daylily teeth and found Bass Gibson to be so interesting and pretty with it's toothy fringed edge. Years ago it was said you needed warm temperatures for the daylilies to show teeth and here in Vermont we do not get the heat seen in the south so I haven't added any to the garden. What are your favorite toothy, fringed, hairy, tentacled daylilies and what advances are being made by hybridizers? Registered cultivar and seedling images welcome!

I did not have any last summer. However, I have bought some this winter that will be delivered this spring.

Next winter I will have a favorite toothy, fringed, hairy and tentacled daylily.

LOVE Bass Gibson! I never have had it, but I did raise a couple super toothy seedlings from it...no pics as sadly, I lost what I had in the garden...but this is a GREAT parent plant for teeth! BTW, I am in the Canadian Prairies...so don't entirely believe the cold/heat tooth theory...

I've been crazy about the toothies ever since I started growing/collecting daylilies a few years ago. Unfortunately in Bakersfield I don't get the really exotic toothy edges that people in more humid climates do, but I still am very pleased with them.

Here are a few of my faves. I have a lot more toothy things but I usually desecrate the blooms early in the morning when hybridizing so I don't always get photos of them.

Absolutely gorgeous, everyone! I don't even know where to start...

Shirlee, here is one of my seedlings from my 2011 cross of BUTTERFLY COVE X BASS GIBSON and it seems to be an Evergreen, which surprised me. But after rechecking I was reminded that BUTTERFLY COVE is also an EV. I wasn't sure what to expect from dear old BASS, and I was very pleased to see this bloom -- and it even has diamond dusting, which you can see if you click on the close-up shot. Most of my seedlings from this and all my other crosses haven't even bloomed for me yet, and now I can hardly wait to see what I might already have! So now I think BASS GIBSON is a very interesting parent -- and hopefully this seedling will have even more teeth this year.

I love this thread! All of these are so beautiful, and I am particularly drawn to the seedlings.

Glen, I really like your toothy seedling and hope you can get another picture of it this year. I would love to see more of it!

Fred, love your COACH'S BRAIDED ANGEL X DR STUMP seedling!

And Michele, I think your toothy seedling I had noticed a while back somewhere and mentioned to you that I was going to try to find it and bring it to your attention again is your second seedling: (ROCK SOLID x GOD SAVE THE QUEEN) X CASPER'S REVENGE! That seedling is incredible, and I sure hope it's doing well and is a keeper for you. But all three of your seedlings are fantastic! And I really like Jim Brazelton's seedling from DR DAVE too.

And Ed -- what can I say? I love each and every one of those seedlings! And those last three are to die for!

I agree Enjoying seeing all the toothies! Dental Academy, Bitten Agin, Lillian's First Bite - the edge on this is interesting with the mix of pink and yellow, Lemon Fringed Pastel - with the fine fringe. The sdlgs are great, too. Michele, that (RS x GSTQ) X Casper's Revenge sdlg is really cool.
I was scrolling down and came to Buzz Saw...realized I had that one and found a few more. Guess I should pay more attention to what is growing in the garden *Blush*
