I had this daylily in my garden for years, it is short had lovely blooms and grew well here. Finally left the garden when a taller newer daylily replaced it since my preference is taller.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!

I prefer taller daylilies too, especially when the flowers are as large as Jolyene Nicole. Huge, lovely, always perfect blooms, but barely above the foliage. Still, it blooms for a long time & almost always reblooms, nice healthy looking foliage too.

I've had this daylily for years. Interestingly it is registered evergreen but seems to switch to deciduous in my climate as it emerges with short outer leaves indicating that it had overwintered as dormant buds. Here's a picture soon after emergence this spring. I have a number of other southern registered evergreens that behave this way too.

I went down and pulled 23 old scapes off of one of my clumps of 'Jolyene Nichole'. They all displayed 2 way branching and only averaged 5 buds per scape. The scapes averaged 16 inches tall. My blooms today were about 5.5 inches, they are often larger. So the stats are not very impressive at all, yet this plant has provided tons of blooms. Some of the first round of rebloom scapes are about bloomed out, and there are new scapes already in place to replace the first round of reblooms with a second round of reblooms. If the blooms were on scapes a few inches taller this would be an absolute favorite with many more gardeners. The blooms are normally just above the foliage and are often down in the foliage.

Edited to add: First blooms this year were on April 16 2017, and it has many blooming days still left! I did not keep close watch, but their have been few days since then that this plant did not have blooms.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Jolyene Nichole before now as it was part of one of my early daylily orders. I got my first plant in the fall of 2019 and was thrilled with the gorgeous, huge, ruffly pink blooms it produced the next spring. I ordered a second plant when Oakes had it on sale. I planted the second plant next to the first one. Both plants seemed to struggle a bit that season, and I realized they were suffering from root competition from a nearby rose bush. I moved them both in the spring of 2021 to a different bed, and was rewarded with profuse blooms from both plants from then on.

My experience with the plant is similar to Larry's above: it produces lots of gorgeous flowers, reblooming every season, but the scapes are short, and some of the blooms are down in the foliage. That is its main drawback. Plant it in the front of the bed.

I see in the database it is listed as very susceptible to rust, but that has not been a huge problem here. I must have different strains, because while it has occasionally shown some rust, it has not shown a lot, and trimming a few leaves here and there has been sufficient to keep it in check.
