I've had this daylily for years. Interestingly it is registered evergreen but seems to switch to deciduous in my climate as it emerges with short outer leaves indicating that it had overwintered as dormant buds. Here's a picture soon after emergence this spring. I have a number of other southern registered evergreens that behave this way too.
