Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Autumn Jewels')

I've had Autumn Jewels since July of 2016 and this summer it proved to be an absolute favorite of mine. It just kept on blooming and I can't wait to see what it does next summer. We had a drought this summer and I tried to keep it watered, and for a late bloomer it was one of my favorites. I placed it in front of Summer Wine Ninebarks and had some Green Jewels Echinacea next to it. These were photos I submitted and they are only 3 of many I took.

It performs here, but certainly hasn't been stellar. We have very little snow cover, yet very cold temps. Zone numbers are deceiving, as they don't factor in things such as the insulating effect of snow. This past year, Autumn Jewels had fewer blooms than the previous year. Will give it some more time.

I have only had Autumn Jewels since 2015 so it is still small. But it has multiplied and bloomed well. It starts blooming in late June in my zone 6b garden. Not very many buds or branching, but the color is very fresh and clean looking.


The scapes hold up the blooms, and the blooms are above the foliage. Both traits that I really love!

have had autumn jewels for around 5 years and have moved it around some and it still performs ok, some of the years better than others. like the flower and it it is a nice and and clean color, hopefully I am done with moving it so that I can get a better opinion on it during it's growing season
