I no longer have it but it was a great performer for me and I gave lots of it to friends. At one time it was mistakenly called Magic Dawn.

An oldie but a goodie! Got this the spring of 2016, and it didn't bloom that year. I wasn't sure it was gonna make it.
This year the two or three fans put up scapes and I had bloom Lovey dubby
I love bicolors, and Howdy is very much that.
Nice tall scapes, good openers, pod fertile.

A pod off of Howdy today. The good hybridizers amongst us might cringe, the pollen parent is Ocean Sprit, which has been fabulously pollen fertile for me- always good for a test run.

I purchased this daylily as "Magic Dawn" and found out here that it is actually Howdy. I've had it in my garden for 8 years and it has multiplied tremendously. I've moved it once since then and have dug out "chunks" of it for friends over the past several years. I will be digging out more this year again. I love the bitone as well as the light colored rib in this one.

I love Howdy and have had it for many years. I also purchased it as Magic Dawn and later found out that it was Howdy. It is a very good increaser and blooms a long time for me.

I had Howdy for a couple of years, and during that time it increased well and bloomed its heart out. 2 yrs later it got spring sickness....it cut the size of the clump way back. The next spring it was worse and only had 4 fans I gave it the summer to see if it would come back but it never did. Pulled it out and trashed it. I wouldn't even try to compost it for fear what ever it had would be passed on. I planted a Hardy Hibiscus in its place there again in case what ever it had might be passed on to the next daylily. All the daylilies in the area around it are still going strong.

I inherited Howdy when I bought my house. Pieces of it were everywhere, including in the middle of the shade garden on the uphill side of the house. I've grown to respect this plant's ability to keep itself going in my garden.

And it often does some interesting things to keep me entertained.

Here are the first blooms in 2017

Here are some scapes from 2015 showing how it is building buds. Not every scape does this, but often at least one scape will just get longer and longer in a cork screw shape for weeks after the rest of the scapes are done, putting more and more blooms onto the end of the scape.

Here's a massive double or fused bloom from 2015. If something about the photo looks off, its because the bloom was so heavy, the scape was bent almost to the level of the nearby hostas.

I really enjoy this plant, and can't imagine not having it around.

Howdy has multiplied a lot since I got it, always blooms well. I really like the no color look of this plant.

I've had Howdy in my garden for many years. It's in a bed that I've more or less abandoned as I'm constantly fighting horrible weeds there ( black swallowwort, wild Morning Glory, Lily of the Valley). It still keeps on blooming though, what a tough plant! No food no water, lots of competition but it hangs in there. I plan to renovate that bed this summer. Howdy will continue to be a welcome guest.

Update. The Island bed did get renovated. Now I have no idea if Howdy is still there, or got moved to the new bed, Lowest Daylily Hill or got thrown in the woods by mistake. Only time will tell!

Here's some photos from 2021

2022…time told! My original clump of Howdy, now gigantic, stands proudly in the middle of the Island bed. It bloomed with countless flowers for a full month from June 28- July 27. What a great show! I will have to start taking pieces out of the edges, before it grows into lots of other newer Daylilies that I want. Howdy, anyone?

2023…Well, the clump is as big as ever and bloomed its head off for a long season from July 1-August 12. It's a great performer
