A Quick Snow Tip

In cold zones where you are fortunate enough to get snow, it's a good idea to shovel extra snow on plants and shrubs, especially near the foundation as it doesn't always get good coverage. The plants are more likely to die from drying out than from the cold.

I've been doing this for several years now, and it really makes a difference! Hurray! If you pile snow in a windy hilltop garden, it doesn't blow away like fallen snow can, and this is also an area that's very susceptible to drying out.

It *REALLY* makes a difference... like whether or not a plant survives / blooms! I do this every year.. in fact, this spring, I actually shoveled snow from road back onto my yard to make sure that they got enough winter water!!
