This Plumeria is well established. It's over 10 years old. I'm not sure what had caused the branches to split open...and what is the strange looking stuff inside? The tree still has green leaves and produced its usual flowers this past summer. How can I help my poor tree??? Any advice is much appreciated.

That is very interesting! Those are actually baby roots developing and I have to say, it is unusual in California, we have it in our humid climate more often. The branch on the left clearly has some damage towards the main stalk and it is trying to save itself! Have you had a cold snap a while ago?
