I have plans to do just that, I was asked to start a pollinator garden around the pond at one of our local Nature parks.
I am very excited about this new project, but the weather is not cooperating, we are in the thirties.
As soon as it warms up we will start doing the layout.
Wish our team good luck with the new project.

Yay!
How did you promote the idea?

I have a problem with clients deciding that the plants must be sheared within an inch of their lives, thus reducing their attractiveness to birds or even ability to reproduce.

And anything that thrives seems to get an automatic label of too aggressive... And the entire patch gets ripped out in favor of plants that don't flourish in that spot....

Too many people seem to be unable to get out of the way.... And listen to what the garden wants...

That is so true, many people are afraid of plants and don't like anything that won't stay put.
Sometimes I think these people want plastic plants so they always stay the same.
I am lucky that this park understands the importance of native plants, and I was asked to do the job.
We are a group of three master naturalists volunteers and we take care of 5 pollinator gardens here in Arlington that we started from scratch. Smiling

I wish you well.

Hope you can get the plants protected you think in a park it would be better protected from that kind of thing.

be sure whatever you decide to plant is native to your area, last thing you need is an invasive weed issue. google plants native to texas

Yes you are right, but I was scheduled to start on my new garden last Monday and had to cancel because of cold weather.

Well to be honest, I like the break and the clean slate from the weeds. But already I have my first blooms of the year.
Winter jasmine. Not a native but it doesn't go to seed either.

Good luck be sure to post plenty of pictures! I am in the process of growing more native plants from seed to fill in my yard.
Here's one garden
Thumb of 2019-02-08/Invaded/3f5664
The red circles are a Cornus florida seedling on the left and a sweetbay Magnolia virginiana seedling on the right. The shrubs on the left are Clethra alnifolia and in front of the Clethra there are Vernonia noveboracensis and Eutrochium fistulosa seedlings I planted in the fall... it remains to be seen if they survive the winter.

Thumb of 2019-02-08/Invaded/5b5cbf
I have 5 Staphylea trifolia seedling planted in the area circled in red.

The yard isnt normally this wet but this is after a hard rain and record preicipitation in 2018. These photos give me a nice snapshot of where water travels in the yard.

Seed trays with seeds that need cold stratification. The cover material is row cover fabric, it lets water in and hopefully doesnt build up too much heat. This is my take on wintersowing.

I have a few frostweed seeds in there but I have a whole tray of its relative Wingstem Verbesia alternifolia too! Lets see if I can push out the invasive weeds with native weeds Crossing Fingers!
