Good morning Mike. I know I have seen this before here, but I can't remember it. @Ctcarol, do you have this plant? Somehow I am reminded of Rodriguezia lanceolata but I am probably way off.

Daisy, that one rings a bell!
Thumbs up

Looking at this a bit closer, the Rodriguezia lanceolata is one of the parents of Lava Burst...

Daisy has the name. Lava Burst 'Puanani'.
Didn't we just have this same question a week or so ago? It seems so familiar.

Yes, Bill, you are right! It was on Dec 8. 2018. Smiling
and it was Cedwards220 with the name of Carol who had asked about her plant. Now I know why the name Carol stuck in my head....

Where is the "mind blown" emoji? I can't believe I remembered that. Rolling on the floor laughing

Oh now that would be cool. Use the tip of the hat emoji and replace the hat with hair and then frame him against a little explosion in the background.

No worries Ursula, I would probably recognize the name as I did have a tag at one time.
I'm anxiously awaiting a full blooming, doesn't seem to have any fragrance at this point.

I'm making a label Howeara Lava Burst 'Puanani'
I know I never bought an orchid with that name but it looks exactly like that.
Might have been a mislabeled "sack" orchid from Lowes.
Thanks @Daisyl

I'm happy I was right - it was a once in a lifetime experience. These new highs are making me dizzy. Hilarious!

I am sitting on the west edge of the Great Basin at an altitude of 5000'. Cold, windy and dry.

Our lows are about 10 degrees and high last summer (a record) was 105. I usually plant my vegetable garden on Mother's Day but, here is a photo I took June 15, 2017. We were expecting snow... Smiling

WOW, I don't think we ever get snow in June :)
Although we are forecast to have 6-10 inches early Sunday morning.
There was 1/2" overnight.
