This is one in a series of very short articles that might change your mind about some surprisingly good weeds. And even if your mind isn't changed, you'll still be well informed.

I agree

I've been wondering how!

Hurray!

Now, when you say "petals", do you mean you pull all the yellow bits out of the flower head?

Lee Anne will have to tell you for sure, Critter, I can't remember that part. I do remember the scent of the mix when it was being strained after having been soaking for days. Ugh. It got better though with time and yeast, lemons, etc.

Thanks for the recipe, When I was a kid I remember picking the blooms, then we had to pull just the yellow petels out, mom would say, none of the green can be in there, it seemed to take for ever to get enough. My mom put raisins in it too, not sure how many, but I remember that she did that. She used to make Elderberry wine, Choke Cherry, and Rhubarb wine too. I also remember one of the neighbors made beet wine. Guess you cam make it out of anything.

Anything that ferments, Tom. More than I'd ever want to try.
I'm glad you mentioned pulling the petals. I feel sure it's only petals that are used but it's been a long time since I was a little girl and I just can't remember.

Thanks to all of you for contributing to the discussion. My daylily parade has begun and I need to spend this day sorting the weeds from the blooms. From here I can't see a single dandelion, but I'm sure they're in there somewhere. Y'all have a real good day!
