I love my pendant strap leaved vittarifolium. I just divided it, there were 3 in the container so I divided one off to propagate it. These leaves are about 3 feet. Great Arthurium for any collection

Must look amazing with 3 ft. leaves! I have only seen these at the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers and it was impressive!
If you want to add this to the database, here's the link:
Anthurium vittariifolium

The one I photographed was this one, different species.

@Calif-Sue, this plant is old, at least 10 years. I bought it from, of all places eBay. I am really partial to the strap leaved pendant anthuria and I have had my eye on wendlingeri for literally years but it is so expensive. It is one I would definitely love to add to my collection. Maybe I will ask for it for Mother's Day or Christmas next year LOL.
I have made a few mistakes with some of my pendants in the past...I grew my Anthurium veitchii, spectabile and pseudospectabile in soil when they are really epiphytic....it didn't hurt them LOL my mama spectabile is a huge monster that lives in a 35 gallon container. But it should be hanging to get the natural effect of the leaves, which are about 4ft or a little more. There are actually 2 in the container, so when they both bloomed simultaneously in the past, the flowers had male and female characteristics going on at the same time and got cross pollinated by something (probably an ant or a tree frog) and I got seeds. They just popped out and started growing in the container. When they were big enough I put them all into little slat moss baskets. They are growing really fast now.

I was able to dig up, divide and move my Veitchii and Pseudospectabile into moss baskets as well so now they are growing like they were meant to grow in nature as much as I can let them.

I just divided this vittarifolium and have a local trader who wants to do a trade later in spring so that will be fun!

Well, I guess I wouldn't be able to grow it any other way here LOL. Used to want to move to Puerto Rico or Miami. But lately, with climate change, I am not certain that would be the best idea. Miami may be under water in a few years, and poor Puerto Rico such a beautiful place not being fully restored after the disaster. I traded many many plants back in the day with growers from Puerto Rico. Postage is US rate of course. Used to get boxes of heliconia rhizomes and such for $3.00+ change Priority Mail. Those days long gone.

Hi Gina,

Just curious what does it mean if the leaves curl in?

Good morning Gina,
Thank you for always responding to my questions. So I was gifted an anthurium pallidiflorum I think that's what it is. I know the two can be mixed up. Seems Velvety. Any who, I just got it two days ago, and the one leaf seems to be curling/folding? Not sure if its because its acclimating to my place or something else? Thank you for your knowledge and help! I've been searching for my care guides, but it is very slim. Thank you again. Thank You!

It is damp, but not wet. It's in perlite, orchid bark, charcoal, and some peat moss/soil mix, in an orchid plastic nursery. Thank you! I was a bit worried. It's became my new favorite plant. Can't stop staring at it .

I grow my 2 large ones in chunky aroid mix...orchid bark, coarse perlite, a very very small portion of potting mix, chopped coconut husk and aliflor. They are epiphytes. I have a small one mounted to cork, it is extremely happy there and once some of my seedlings grow I plan to mount more

I started out almost 20 years ago with one plant each of regular vittariifolium and variegated vittariifolioum. The variegated one lost its variegation...it is quite unstable, and I would not recommend people spend big bux on one.

Over the years the plants produced offsets. I am not actually certain why. I don;t know if they produced them vegetatively or because they seeded and sprouted and I did not notice, because there was a period when I was not really looking out for that sort of stuff.

But whichever it was, I suddenly had multiple plants in one container. So I just separated them and repotted them up.

Vittariifolium is one of the varieties like bakerii, spectabile, fasciale and several others that will self pollinate easily, they produce multiple blooms at the same time. So they form berries pretty regularly. They are easy to grow from seed

I was curious if anybody has had success with stem propagating these?
