I found an old gardening book from the early 1960s. It has a photo of a daylily that is in the database but doesn't have a photo. The AHS doesn't have a photo either. Can I add the book photo to the daylily database as long as I give the source? Just thought it might be helpful to some folks. If not, is there someplace else I can post it?

It depends on whether the book and photo are out of copyright (which may be hard to determine). I think it depends on where the book was published (i.e. in Australia, from memory, copyright is valid for 70 years after the author's death, unless the estate renews it).

It can get even more complicated if the photo was not taken by the author. In short, you're probably going to need to contact the publisher (assuming they still exist) as a starting point to get permission to post the photo.
