Thread OP
Houston, Tx
We left Our house for about 10 minutes while we went to the store. While we were gone our dog completely tore my plumeria to shreds.. which she's never bothered with before (she's just out to get me)

Its 2 years old and I'm worried it cannot be saved

What would be the best way to go about it or should I just throw it away.. it has a lot of sentimental value to me and I would hate to just give up on it.

Don't give up on it. Just leave it where ever it was growing best but make sure the dog can't get it. DO NOT OVERWATER IT. Right now, it just needs to be left alone. Don't let it dry out, but overwatering it now will rot the roots which now have nothing to pump water into. Just keep it in the same conditions where it was doing well and WAIT. THere's a very good chance that it will start to resprout. I always try to remember ALL that plants are made to be eaten by something. So usually after being munched down, most will recover. Good luck and don't give up hope.

I'd watch the pup for any ill effects from possibly ingesting parts of the plant and also possible skin irritation. Frangipani (Plumeria rubra) has a white milky sap that can cause skin irritations ... and may be toxic if ingested.

It will take time, and patience, but your plumeria will recover just fine. Hope your dog is ok.

I agree it will most likely resprout. I assume the pup is in the doghouse? Thumbs down

Are there any pieces left that are big enough to root?

You may want to apply some cinnamon on those remaining exposed part. And hope for the best, it has roots so it may try to recover, unlike a straight cutting that was cut off and had to be rooted.

Good luck! Hope it has enough energy! I would refrain from watering for now, no leaves to use it, just let it callus that part and see how it goes. Crossing Fingers!

How about the top part, was it too demolished?? If the part that got removed just lost all the leaves, you may try to wait patiently for Spring and hopefully it will still try to root.
