I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a vine I got yesterday. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of it but will describe it as best I can.
The person who gave it to me started it from seed from her parent plant. She says it's called Sweet Pea Vine...but it's not a traditional "Sweet Pea" in any way shape or form.

Twining vine. NO tendrils. Wraps around itself or some support.
Foliage is compound, 3 heart shaped leaflets per stem about 1" each, apple green in color, glossy. (Sort of looks like Smilax asparagus fern but thicker texture.)
Alternate.
Bloom is supposedly pink and resembles flowers in pea family.
Semi evergreen here (zone 10a)
Growing in part sun/part shade on a framework.
Blooms spring/summer.

I have not seen the parent plant but am told it's not a thick massive type vine.
I know this is a long shot, but does this sound familiar to anyone ?
Thanks !

It sounds like the corkscrew vine (Vigna Caracalla), a.k.a. snail vine and sweet pea vine.

And the wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

I wanted this vine for my new garden but I was told at the nursery that this is a vine that does not look good off season and it can be a bit difficult to manage so I didn't get it but when in bloom it is such a lovely sight.

It's Dipogon lignosus...aka Cape Sweet Pea or Australian Pea Vine or Okie Vine

You're welcome! It's pretty, I envy the warmer states Smiling
