is there an approved method of helping remove the seed pod off the seedling
i am getting seedlings that are losing there heads because they can not get out of the pod

I don't know if it's approved or not but I've had that problem with a few my Japanese morning glory seeds. I mist them with water to keep the seed head moist so it will slide off easier.

now that i think about it
after i water there seems to be less stuck pods
i will go water them again today and start misting

I do the same- mist with a very soft spray a couple of times a day. The seed pod will soften and fall off.
