My doctor thought it would be a good idea for me to learn a new skill to keep my brain sharp (relatively speaking). So I took some water color classes. Here's a yellow rose that I just finished? Does anyone else out there do water coloring in their garden?

By the way, are the green stringy things "bracts"?

Hi David, Welcome!

What a beautiful watercolor painting of that yellow rose ... really pretty! Thumbs up

Those stringy looking things are called Sepals, the individual modified (usually green) leaves that make up the calyx, or outer circle of floral envelopes.

Hi, David. Welcome. That's a beautiful watercolor!

I'm more of a scribbler but envy your ability. There's a garden center near me that offers all kinds of garden and garden related workshps and classes. There must be a big interest around here for painting because I've noticed that they sponsor a workshop at least once a month. I think they're all done with watercolors. And I think some other places do the same.

So anyway, that was a long way round to say that I bet other members share your interest.
