I've occasionally seen photos of these (didn't know they were called Four O'clocks - any reason why?) but have never seen one in real life. So an especially interesting and pretty banner for me, Kurt! Thank you! I tip my hat to you. Hurray!

My Mom grew these when I was a child. I always wondered why the name and was told because the blooms open after 4:00 pm. Makes a wonderful banner; and rekindles another fond memory from my early days. Thanks for sharing Kurt! Hurray!

each flower blooms for one night , usually opening around 6 or 7 pm and closing the next morning by about 10 am
at which point it drops off and a seed is produced in it's place

and pattern repeats all season long , lots of flowers and lots of seeds

Four o'Clocks were the first flower I grew as a child. My Mom had a flowerbed that she allowed me to sow in the ground and grow the seeds. I haven't since then, but maybe I will next year. I think I'll try and sow seeds next spring in a container or two in tribute to my late and beloved Mom. Lovey dubby
