Today I noticed my Wright's skullcap has white blooms mixed in with the purple, is that normal?

Thanks Josephine. This is the first year it's done this. There's probably 3 or 4 clusters of white flowers on it. Smiling

Cinda that would be so neat if I had a sport. I tried looking online for a white flowered version but I couldn't find any pictures. I even tried emailing some Master Gardeners on a few sites, but none have responded.

I got a response from the Collin County Master Gardeners, here's what they said:

"Normally this would indicate a hybrid plant reverting to the host species. However Wright's skull cap was identified as far back as the 1899's. It's possible you have a derivative that is in fact a hybrid and is reverting to a host species."

I really wonder what species were used to make the hybrid I'm growing?

Thanks Cinda! I agree, it's definitely pretty. I hope next year it will produce more white flowers. Thumbs up
