It appears to be a type of honeysuckle but its more like a tree and is not really full like you see with 'most' honeysuckle shrub varieties. Doesn't really smell like a honeysuckle, either. Any thoughts?

Think I figured it out - appears to be a Rhododendron Canescens (Piedmont Azalea)

I agree, it looks like a native azalea.
