I was curious about what type of plants people had problems growing in Florida. I am in North central Florida. I tried to grow Hollyhock from a root I purchased at Wal-Mart and it didn't seem to do anything, but grow small leaves.

Eric, there are many plants that get sold by the box stores and Walmart that just can't take our heat here, but it doesn't stop them from selling them every single spring, many of the bulbs they sell won't do well here. I tried Hollyhocks and they did fine until the wet hot days of summer.

This may help you, it is plants that do grow well in FL, you can put your zone in to find out what does well. http://floridayards.org/fyplan...
