I like this method. The seeds I put in the ground that I germinated this way are starting to emerge from the ground in only 3 days. The seeds that I germinated by just planting in the ground took a lot longer. I don't remember cuz I didn't keep track, but it was a lot more than 3 days.
Anyone else use this method?
I am getting ready to plant in soil my latest batch of paper-towel-germinated zinnia seeds. Some I will put right in the prepared ground, and some I will put in a container, and then in ground when they become seedlings.
My experience thus far (limited) is that the latter method of adding the step of container gives me better results even tho it is more work.

Hi Ellen. Yes, I've used a similar method with a baggy, but use coffee filters instead. Generally, I use it for some special , or expensive seeds, otherwise simply use a seed tray. Unless, if it was something I have in rather large quantity, I would sow directly.
