Hi everyone,

I have a few daffodils in my tiny garden and they have bloomed beautifully in the past. This year, one set of them, the Double Daffodils (Narcissus 'Acropolis'), is suffering from bulb blast. The others are fine.

Does anyone have any advice on this?

Dig up and spread out, They're probably overcrowded.
Daffodil blindness - failure of daffodils to bloom despite healthy foliage Usual cause is overcrowding.
or do you mean something else?

Hi Jmorth!

I don't think so. Here's an article that has a great picture that shows exactly what my daffodil flowers did. They are mushy to the touch.

The difference between blast and blind.

Yup, it's a thin line. I did Google it as I had never heard of either. It seems that blindness is when a bud fails to form, but blast is when the bud forms, but then decays without opening.

Does that sound right to you? Thinking

Anyway, I have ordered some new tulips and daffodils, but I'm going to dig all my tulips and daffodils up as soon as their greens turn brown, and try to save as many as possible. Our weather was so wonky last year that I wouldn't be surprised if that had an influence. We had some super hot days, and then it got really cold again. Then just before spring was to arrive, it got super hot again and a bit later, IT SNOWED! The description of bulb blast says that this can cause it. It's a blast of heat.
