If my 3-year-old plumeria were to bloom this year, how long would the bloom last? Thanks! Smiling

For me most blooms only last a day. If it's very cool and shady they might last 2 days.

Yep. They don't last long , but grow in clusters, so not all open at the same time...depending on weather.

It varies, sometimes blooms on my Plumies last for a week, last year it was better about 2 weeks.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if they were like daylily blooms or not. I tip my hat to you. Sounds like they are.

No! Not like daylilies at all. Daylilies have single flowers at a time. Plumeria have clusters of blooms, so depending on weather, when one flower fades, the rest may all be just opening, and the bush/ tree will have many branches flowering at any time. I have eliminated all but one daylily because they require to much grooming and water. I will never give up my plumerias. (I have 4...2 in ground and 2 in pots) I feed them a couple of times a year(if I remember), and prune them when they encroach on walks or the neighbors porch, or get too tall to appreciate the blooms. In my zone, they thrive with no care, BUT people in all zones do grow them, though they do have to be protected in winter weather. Potted ones can over winter in a garage, or dug, bare root can be overwintered also. Do more research. Plumies are grown in all climates, one way or another.

My flowers last a single day but they still look good on the ground. Sometimes I collect them and bring them inside where they can last 2-3 more days in water.

But since there are numerous buds, it just seems to bloom repeatedly, always pleasing!

Here is 1 of 4 blooming plus one more promising cluster of inflo on my Penang Peach.

Thanks for the clarification on the blooms. I had no idea what to expect. Hoping mine will do something this summer, but if not, I am prepared to overwinter another year.

Cheryl, Penang Peach is gorgeous! Cute little friend on top of the bloom must like the fragrance too, lol!

I started this plumeria early 2016 after my son brought me a six-inch cutting from Hawaii. We overwintered it in the basement, but this last winter we left it by the French doors in the kitchen and it did well.

The blooms can last as long as a week or as short as a day. It depends on the cultivar and its 'keeping quality'. Penang Peach has excellent keeping quality and will last up to a week. As such it is a good one for Lei making.

I'm glad you mentioned lei's Hetty. I was wondering how long a lei would last using plumeria blooms.

A lei like this would last 2 to 3 days, if misted occasionally and kept cool. I put mine in the refrigerator at night in a ziploc bag.

Hetty, that is so pretty! I watched a few youtube videos on how to make leis, but yours is by far prettier with the green leaves in between the blooms. Thank you very much for sharing that picture Smiling
