I don't know if these are weeds or wild flowers. They are getting ready to bloom and look like the blooms may be yellow. Wondering if I should leave them for pollinators or pull them out so they don't disperse seed.

When they were smaller, they looked like sunflowers, but now it is clear that is not the case. I appreciate any information. Thanks!!

@tofitropic That's it! I've never seen or heard of it before, not even by it's common name hophornbeam copperleaf. I'm new to Texas and I had been a Northern California resident for nearly all of my life. On the sites that I found listing where this plant grows, California was never mentioned.

I try to learn at least one new thing every day...and today this is it! Thank you.

Oh.., by the way out they come. I couldn't find where they serve any purpose other than in some corn fields. Everything mentioned control with herbicides which I prefer not to use.
