I don't know if this question has been addressed before, but has anyone noticed whether the deer in their garden seem to go for certain varieties or colors of daylily buds more so than others? It seems like the deer that eat at my place seem to absolutely love Arms to Heaven, and Big Snowbird, among others. It's pretty annoying, because I have MANY daylilies that I am not that wild about and the deer don't even bother with them, but many times it seems like certain ones that I really love are the ones that are eaten.

The deer never bother my common ditch lilies (Hemerocallis fulva). I have a huge patch of them in the field and the deer walk right past them to get to my daylily beds.

I spray the plants that the deer like with deterrent (Bobbex) and that has pretty much stopped them from eating my daylilies, hostas, etc. I have never sprayed the ditch lilies and they have never eaten them in the 26 years I have been living here.

Valerie, ain't it! And meanwhile, my neighbors ditch lilies are crowding under the fence to live in MY yard!

I've been doing good deer-wise this year, but all of a sudden I have this groundhog Grumbling Angry Grumbling
I are sooooo smart!

Groundhogs can be a real pest. A friend of mine loved to grow campanulas (bellflower), and the groundhogs loved them.
