Reading thru these on a quiet garden day...
Tell me what you ended up doing?
The reason I asked is I needed something similar but not for vines. I had a 3x6 raised bed of peppers. When they were first planted, one of my Labs thought the organic fertilizer was good to eat. She rooted through it like a hog but paid later with a tummy ache.
I usually overlay these beds with a cattle panel, cut to fit. That keeps dogs/kitties out till the plants are established. Then they'll leave them alone. I replanted the pepper plants and laid a panel over the peppers. They grew too quickly so I raised the panels by propping them up on 5 gal black pots. It worked well to keep the plants from flopping and as they grew, I raised the panel another level of pots.
I will do this again next summer but will use stakes in the corners as the pots took up too much real estate in this small bed.
That seemed to work well for me. I was just wondering what worked for you?
