Is there a bright red dayliliy? I have Pardon Me, Christmas Gift, Little Business and an unknown daylily? They are all the same dark, burgundy red, not a bright red.

This one is a dormant. Don't know how they do in your zone.

The two daylilies in my garden that I think are the closest to what I consider "true red" are Red Balls of Fire (Stamile-Pierce, 2010) and Patriots' Day (Reilly, 2012) as long as you don't mind your reds having an edge. Here are pictures from this years' blooms.

Looking in the Daylily Database on this site, I find the picture of Red Balls of Fire by California Sue to be the most similar in shade to my picture. For Patriots' Day, all of the pictures in the database have a more yellow cast than my picture, but my picture looks just like what I saw in my garden. In fact I have pictures from the last three years that have very similar shade - somewhat more blue-white in tone than the database pictures, and judging from the color of the background foliage, the light and the camera color settings seem to have been similar.

Wow. Lots of real reds out there. Thank you all for suggestions. I'll be ordering more daylilies for fall and will look into these.

The Christmas Gift shines in the sun. It's the closest of what I have to the red I want. I do have quite a bit of shade; that might make a difference, too.
