For several years the potted Lily had beautiful yellow blooms clustered very tight looking real nice without any fuss. Just nip it all down for fall/winter storage and keep in the shed. This year it did not bloom at all but has the healthy looking green foliage. Leaves me scratching my head. It was however cheated of sunlight and water when we were away for 10 days, looked anemic, but came back beautifully. Still, no blooms. Any ideas?

Is this a daylily (not actually a lily) or a "true" lily?

If you haven't repotted this plant in a few years, could it have depleted the soil it's growing in? Flowers can expend a lot of energy and if you don't fertilize or refresh with a soil change once in awhile, they will eventually run out of some nutrient or another. Doesn't matter whether it's a daylily or a standard lily, though they may have different requirements

It was the different requirements that I was thinking about. Daylilies may initiate their flowers the year before they bloom, lilies initiate them after growth has started. Flowering of lilies is initiated by daylength, daylilies are "day neutral". I suspect this is a daylily but it may help to know.

I don't disagree with you, totally valid points!
Just thought I'd put it out there because eventually most things in pots will need replenished soil, though I grow both kinds plants and they very much have their own growing habits and needs.

I've also known people to call other plants that are only vaguely lily-like a lily or daylily so the term can be exceptionally vague!
