I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but here I go. I noticed a bird's nest with eggs in it a few weeks ago, and originally thought about taking it out because the pot is close to the house, and I didn't want to have my alyssum plants and dwarf Alberta spruce destroyed by the bird. I decided against it because I'm a firm believer in not disrupting native wildlife for non-native annual plants. Anyway, the bird has been a great guest - I never even notice any damage to any plants. The eggs just hatched yesterday, and I'm wondering if all the little birds look okay. One has a round butt with a yellow bump, and it's concerning me a little. Two eggs never hatched. I'm not even sure what type of birds these are, but they sure are cute. The mother is like a speckled brown, white chested, with a pure brown/copper colored back. She is not protective, and stays far away from the nest when I'm outside. Thoughts on what type of birds these are? Is the one with the yellow lump okay? Any knowledge is greatly appreciated because I know next to nothing about birds. (Sorry to link my Instagram, but the original video wouldn't load on here) https://instagram.com/p/BzlUT9...
Maybe we should get a second opinion...

Eggs are laid at intervals and will hatch at intervals.
Mothers will remove bad eggs, eggshells, and bodies to keep nest clean.
Some baby birds are attacted by nasty insects and die. Blowfly is one.
Once out of the nest the mother bird will scream like crazy if you or another predictor gets near where one of the babies are. So if you hear a bird freaking out, something is close to her babies.
Last year mom and dad robins were spasing out quite intensely where I was weeding. Their babies were still in the nest so I just kept working. They kept really flipping. I looked above my head and that's when I saw just what they were really flipping about. A snake was in the tree just above my head snatching the babies up as dinner! I hit the tree trunk with the shovel several times. The snake fell with a thud and took off.
Too late to help.
I raised bluebirds for 5yrs. Then my neighbor screwed that up.
Enjoy the little guys. They grow up fast!

So relieving knowing the two remaining eggs may still hatch. I was getting sad. I've stumbled upon nesting robins, and they are MUCH more intense than the alyssum nest mom. They kept diving towards me trying to scare me away, and they kept it up for a good 30 minutes. This mother communicates with her babies when I get near them, but doesn't scream. Not sure if she just really isn't protective, or if she knows I won't hurt the babies.
