Thread OP

Hi everyone! Smiling I googled "gardening forums" and was directed to here! I live in Austin, Tx (1 year 9 months) from North Texas originally. We just moved into a new home here and the entire backyard was a large garden that apparently was forgotten. I'd love to bring it back to life as much as I can with what little tools I have. There are two large flowerbeds and then on each side of the yard, there are more plants. I don't know half of these. I know there are a lot of roses. I believe there is an apple tree. I am not sure what is a weed and what is not. I don't want to pull something from the ground that was meant to be there! The yard is also on a slope halfway down so we haven't been able to mow down there yet because it's very overgrown and was killing the blades on the mower. We have a beautiful golf course and lake behind our home and would love for our yard to look just as beautiful so I need all the advice! Thank you in advance! -Sage

This is a picture I drew with my daughters crayons hahaaha of what the garden would look like if cleaned up! The covered patio is where we step out of the house on. The open patio connects to it. There is a gate that opens up on the left of the covered patio and you step down into the yard. The gate to the front yard is on that sie as well! Sorry if all of this was way too much!

Welcome! to the site! It sounds like you have a good project ahead of you (nice job with the drawing, by the way Thumbs up ). We have a Plant ID forum where you can post photos of the plants you would like help to identify. That way you can work out what you've got before you start making changes.

Welcome to the forum, you will find many helpful people here. If I were in Austin I could probably take a day off from the music hubs to garden once in a while.
You have what sounds like a fun project. Just take it a few squares ft at a time and enjoy yourself. Welcome!

Welcome! I have a daughter near Austin, and her weather is wonderful for growing nearly everything. The humidity makes many plants very happy. Have fun here!
