I need a purple or pink perennial for the middle and/or front of my border. Out of salvia, catmint, veronica, and hummingbird mint, which blooms the longest, has the most attractive foliage most of the season, and isn't too floppy? I have a six hills giant catmint and it just flops all over the place. I thought the stems were supposed to stand more upright? I also considered lavender but feel like I've read it's harder to grow in my area (zone 6). Not sure if that's true or not! Any varieties that perform better than others out of these? Thanks!!

IMO, veronica and salvia microphylla(?) are long lasting perennials that look good until frost. Keep the salvia cut back, though.
